Oil consumption 900

Hi, all:
my 1st volvo was a 444 w/ a B16. It was dead simple and reliable. Now my daughter has a 960 w/ 2.6 that is beginning to use oil at 130k mi. Oil dip stick seems a bit black, although she is very very conscientious about caring for the car - regular service etc. Most posts here suggest much greater engine life for these engines. Is 150k a common time for rebuild on these engines? I would like to hear some comments.
