The mother of all odometer problems 200 1989

So far I've replaced the small gear in the original speedo in an attempt to get the odometer working. That didn't work.....so I bought another speedometer and tried it....that didn't work. I posted for suggestions here and learned that there may be a short in the cluster. So I bought another entire cluster and.....that didn't work. The fuses are fine, everything else seems to work. Any suggestions? I'm trying to get the car up to speed to sell as it just isn't cool enough for my daughter. There is a sticker on the door showing the odometer was replaced at about 9,000, and the odometer currently reads 31,000 or so. I figure she's put on about 5,000 in the 7 months we've owned it.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, thanks for the tip on slamming the glove compartment door to get the o/d relay to trip! That works for a quick fix.
