940 T hard acceleration problem 900 1993

1993 940 turbo with 130,000 miles on odometer has started to use about a quart of oil between changes (which occur between 3 - 5,000 miles). Last week, returning from a trip of about 500 miles one way, I stepped on the accelerator to pass one of the snail-people and the following occurred: acceleration seemed normal, winding out until expected automatic gear change then all acceleration instantly ceased at about the point I expected the gear change. Slow re-acceleration and was able to pass.

Same thing happened today while passing on a two-lane.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Chris
