Vacuum hose to firewall 900

Just purchased about 12 feet of Volvo vacuum hoses (they cost me $50 in total)!

And I am starting to methodically change all the vacuum hoses that I see. I noticed one that goes from the intake to the driver's side firewall. Anyone know what that is for?? Do I have to take apart dash to get at it?

The hose I bought was 4.2mm inner diameter (found it on your excellent FAQ). Anyone knows what are the diameter for the 2 vacuum hoses that goes to the evaporative cannister.
