Left Tail light out, wiring issue??? Where to look? 200 1989

Hey all,

I started my car tonight, turned on the lights and immediately noticed that my bulb indicator warning light was on. The light was not on the previous night. I got out and checked my lights and sure enough the left rear tail lights were not on. I checked the bulbs and they were not burnt out. The filament was still intact in both bulbs. Since both of the lights are out (the two red lights on the left side), I assume this must be a wiring issue. Am I headed in the right direction? On a side note, it did rain cats and dogs for a little while today. I don't know if that could have had an effect on anything. I have noticed a few times where water has been leaking into the passenger cabin. I've seen it dripping onto my foot, but I haven't had the chance to investigate or repair the problem. Also, about a week ago, the bulb warning light started coming on when I applied the brakes. The reason this is happening is that my third brake light (the brake light in the center of the rear window) is not working. I haven't had the time to see if the bulb is burnt out or if it's something more serious. Could these two issues be related? My right tail light is working fine.

It'll be a few days before I will have the opportunity to look at the car, but in the meantime, I'd appreciate any feedback as to what could be causing my tail lights to not work. I really don't want to be getting pulled over by the law because my tail light is out. Thanks so much in advance.....
