I finally have a 240 with functional AC, and the heat won't shut off completely! I remember having read bout two types of problems related to 240 heater valves:
1. Heat was either completely on, or completely off. The recommended fix was a replacement valve (I have a replacement valve kit from a heater core purchase on eBay two years ago - new HC, valve kit, blower motor, hoses, etc., for $65 - but the quality scares me to death).
2. My problem - heat would not go all the way off. I recall that the suggested fix was to adjust the valve cable to make sure that it did not slip, and fully closed the valve.
At this point, I would settle for a valve that was either full on, or full off. However, the cable seems is not slipping and it seems to bepushing the valve lever as far closed as it will go.
Are there any other fixes short of clamping a hhose or replacing the valve? Thanks as always, folks.
Glen
