I have 83 240 DL with automatic transmission and cannot move the shift lever into 1st or 2nd. Lever moves into all other positions fine(P,R,N,D). Is this some type of linkage problem or could the transmission have a problem? This does not seem to affect driveability at all.

Is there anything I could check?
