I am stuck on vacation without a Bentley and, of all times, I am having A/C problems. Although the A/C is blowing cold, the condenser cooling fan on my '93 240 is not turning on. There is 12V. to the contact side of the cooling fan relay and 12V. appears on the coil side whenever the A/C is switched on. The motor is all right and the cooling fan relay checks good. As best as I can trace the wiring without a manual, I THINK the control side of the fan relay is grounded through a pressure swith in a refrigerant line to the condenser.
My questions:
It always seemed to me that the condencser cooling fan came on as soon as the A/C was turned on. Is this true?
Is there a pressure switch in the condenser fan control circuit and what are its state and switch points?
Can any great harm be done running it without the condenser cooling fan operating?
Does any body have any suggestions?
Thanks, one and all,
Rich
