opinions on Thermagasket head gasket repair kit please 700 1989

b230ft with 185,000 miles. Blown head gasket from severe overheating.
Wondering what others experience is or thoughts are before tearing the motor down to do it right with a new gasket/thermostat and head recondition.
Waterpump + timing belt + seals replaced 1000 miles ago.

I read the thermogasket ad and went to their web site; too good to be true or not? Surely easier than the tear down.
