strut brace installation 900 1995

I bought a set of Cherry Turbos upper and lower braces and am stumped with installation of the upper strut brace. I've installed them with no problem on a 240 and 740. It should drop right on the studs, but, on this 1995 945T, there is a metal plate installed just in front of the driver's side strut housing, which is in the way. The plate serves as attachment for the onboard diagnostics and a box with a couple of vacuum hoses to it. I thought I would check here to see if anyone has addressed this already, before I do something I shouldn't. My solution right now is to take a Dremel to the plate to cut it down. Any other suggestions appreciated.
