88 765 oil consumption 700 1988

I've noticed that the well worn (although only 148K miles)K-Block in my 88 765T uses about 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles. After seeing the wear in the bores when I replaced the head gasket, that is understandable, but where is it going? I just pulled the drain plug on the intercooler and got no more than a couple of spoonfuls out. There is no smoke from the tailpipe under any condition, and I don't baby it. The plugs are 3 ranges hotter than factory and are clean. There is oil in the intake hoses so I am guessing that it is burning. Has anybody had experience with this type of condition?

Thanks,
