I ordered a couple packs of Q-Pads to help quiet the noise in the back of my P220. I've been re-upholstering/carpeting the car and plan to take the carpet and vinyl off the wheel arches. I've already taken the floor mats (and rubber padding) up in the front and the mat is coming up in the back footwells as so as I get some more POR15.
I've added new rubberized unercoating and rustproofing (POR15) to the front footwells. I used a rubberized roofing cement on the front floorpans already which probabaly makes it difficult for me to use q-pads up there.
Here's where I'm planning to add Q-Pads:
-Wheel Arches (tops and sides)
-Under the back seat (over the differential and axel)
-Inside rear fenders in the cargo area. (on the inside of the quarter-panels)
-Rear seat foot wells (and over the rear drive tunnel)
I'm also considering the floor of the cargo area, but I worry how that will effect the "utility" of that area. I'm thinking of cutting some 1/2" plywood and creating a folding floor similar to the types in the 900 and 700 series wagons to cover the spare tire/utility well. I worry that using Q-Pads there will force me into an uncessarily thick floor.
Thoughts or experiences? Anywhere I should definitely NOT put sound proofing?
