decent start, then chug, chug, chug, then runs fine

hi all,

a quick question about my 1990 240 Volvo...she starts relatively well - not the best with rain or when damp, but lately - after accelerating fine out of the driveway, literally chugs along for the next 5 minutes or so. when i get to a stop sign, i can pretty much depress the pedal to the floor and she ever so slowly chugs until picking up speed. as mentioned, this will happen for the first 5 minutes or so and then she's fine. is this a vacuum leak? fuel pump? any ideas appreciated.
