Have an 85 240, when I turn the ignition on, the instrument cluster on illuminates a orange "UP" arrow on the lower right side of the cluster, won't start. This car is an '87 chassis, but to avoid complications (or so we thought) we reused the wiring harnesses (engine and drivers compartment), the ECU, motor, ignition coil, even instrument cluster from our totaled '85. Since this is a race car and had been built by the prvious owener, we thought it would be easier to reuse those items, then to figure out which wires we needed for racing. We wanted to keep the wires to a bare minimum, but while the motor, cluster and such would work/start in the '85, since moving it all over to the '87 chassis we can't get it to start without a remote starter, and the cluster display/gauges are all messed up. we don't have the fuel pump wired yet (welding around where the wiring would go), We were/are hoping to race this saturday, but without some help from brickboard member's I don't see that happening....HELP...
