The Yellow Peril Saga continues!! 140-160 1973

Well, the Yellow Peril was running pretty well, I got the odometer working
(with 1.03 speedo) and things seemed fine until downtown on Friday it died
from fuel starvation. Put in a new filter (before the fuel pump) and marveled
at the black grit in the old one. I had driven it less than 20 miles on that
filter when this happened. The new filter began bogging down at about 15 miles
(I can tell now that the Odo is working!) and gave out a mile or so later.
After sitting and resting I was able to drive it home (3 blocks).
So today I finally decided to bite the bullet and get the tank cleaned.
The fellow at the radiator shop said I should put a polymeric lining in it
which would keep it from rusting. I filled both my 5-gallon gas can and my
6-gallon gas can with the electric fuel pump, and finally found my lawnmower
gas can which held the rest. I pulled out the fuel gauge sender and was
immediately tipped of to the malfunction. The sender looked a lot like a
porcupine! Spikes of rust sticking off it in all directions! I am wondering
if I clean it will there be anything left? I had to get the tank to the shop
today to be sure of having it back on the road for the trip to Joplin the 12th
and from there to OKC on the 13th with the Dutch Volvo club.

I really don't wanta put that nasty thing back in my nice clean tank!

Does anyone have a gas gauge sender that'll fit a 73 145E that they'd like
to sell? If so I am eager to deal!
