Just for the record, I figured someone out there might be interested in this.

I replaced the tailgate wiring harnesses in my '80 245 in June of 2003, and it failed a couple of weeks ago (July of 2005).

Just over 2 years.

I'm going to fabricate the next harness I put in. In fact, I'm in the process of figuring out how to completely change how the tailgate gets power. I'll post about it if it ever comes to life.
