new alternator belt is what catalogue calls for but too big 900

I bought a replacement belt for my 95 945 volvo for the alternator drive belt and it appears about 1-1/2 inches too long . I cant use pivot bolts and tensioner to adjust for it. Its a dayco 15395 and specs at their website for B230 NA engine. HELP plez JOPHN
