AW-71 replacement trans for AW-70? 200

Dear Brickmeisters--

The trans in my 1992 wagon has not healed itself. I've found two replacements but they're both AW-71s from turbos.

Is the shift linkage the same?

And even if it fits and hooks up, will it work right? I've read that the 71 has a different torque converter. It's designed for a high-powered turbo and I'm wondering whether it would be right for the much weaker b230.
