Throttle spring wear on B20E intake manifold 1800

I'm posting here because I would like to ask for advice regarding a B20E in my 142.
I have been having problems with a sticking throttle. I looked into a possible wear problem on the intake manifold where the main throttle plate spring rotates. Sure enough the spring has cut a deep groove into the manifold metal.
I took a metal band from a hose clamp, cut off the screw, and made a liner for the inside of the spring with the band, to protect the manifold metal. That repair does not provide a retainer lip to hold the spring in place and is not satisfactory. The throttle doesn't stick now, maybe getting the spring to rotate properly with the band liner helped that
Has anyone any suggestions?
