Proper seat position BEFORE starting cable repair 900 1995

i am getting ready to replace the cable on my 960, i was wondering what is the proper position (easiest) for the seat to be in BEFORE i start. obviously i can't adjust the forward/back at all, but i can raise and lower it and raise and lower the seat back.
