Hi,
When I bought my Volvo 740 GL, it has a funny problem. The driver's side window howls at me around my ear.
Y'see, the black stripping that's on the door frame and touches the window side (similar to the one on the door frame near the bottom on both sides of the window) is missing. This leaves this slight gap, and produces the really irritating howling wind noise that I'm constantly struggling with to ignore or mute.
A friend told me, that 'piece' of rubber is called 'weatherstripping' (Yes, I'm a car virgin - this is my first) and that I would have to get a whole Volvo weatherstripping kit which is a couple of hundred bucks.
Does anyone have alternate ways of obtaining this weatherstripping? The only feasible option I've heard is junkyard - I live in Queens, NY - so I don't really know of any junkyard nearby. Even if I did, I wouldn't know what the hell to say or do.
Help!?
