On my 1972 164E I installed an oxygen sensor in the exhuast, very near to where it bolts to the exhaust manifold. It is wired to an air/fuel ratio gauge. What I observe is there are times when the mixture is lean and others when it is rich. These only last a few seconds and then the mix returns to more normal. My question is.....is there any way to connect the oxygen sensor with or without some additional electronics, perhaps through the coolant sensor, or maybe the air temp sensor so its input would be added to all the other inputs going to the central control unit. The result would be, I think, rapid and continuous mixture adustment, better fuel economy and improved power. It would work the way it happens in 740s etc. By the way, all sensors, TPS are working properly and the car runs fine although, when the air/fuel ratio gauge reads very lean, there is a slight feeling of less than full power. Its definately not a dead spot on the
TPS. Nothing serious. All suggestions cheerfully accepted.
