turbo replacment tips - got a used replacement Garrett turbo to install 700 1987

Bought a used Garrett tubo to replace the non working turbo on an 87 740 intercooler. It looks pretty much like a removal of the old and bolt in the new unit. Any tips or suggestions to look for during this process? Unbolting the rusty manifold nuts looks like it could be a problem. Will the turbo start working without adjustments - how does the oil lube the unit when I first fire it up? Should I drain the intercooler? thanks
