Hi everybody... it's an '86, so IPD's conversion kit is out of the question. Is there a way to bypass the compressor entirely? That is, run a belt directly from the crank or the water pump to the PS pump?

It appears to me that the pulleys wouldn't line up properly. I lie awake thinking about shims, spacers, the timing marks, the adjustment hardware...

Has anyone devised a modification that works properly? Any and all comments are most welcome and appreciated,
