Fuel Pressure or FPR?? part 2 700 1985

Ok. '85 744 Turbo This is the car that idles fine and starts well. But has no power when you let the clutch out. See previous post.

So I made a fuel pressure gauge 0-100psi and connected in to the return line after the FPR. So at idle it has about 4 psi while running or revving . ???

IF I pinch the return line, I can modulate the pressure up to about 80psi or better.

I put a vaccuum pump on the FPR and it would pull about 50 ( inches)of vaccuum and hold. No fuel leaks out of the line. But the fuel pressure never went above the 4psi reading, no matter what I did- except pinch.

So next I had my Son rev the car while I pinched the return line. Didn't seem to run much better, kinda sputters and goes flat.

What is wrong? What should the pressure in the return line be? Should it make more than 4 psi? Is the FPR stuck open and just returning all the fuel to the tank? I am not able to check flow - yet. Still wonder if its the pump.

Please help
