Stereo Wiring Question 200 1991

Hello,

I am in the process of installing a new after market radio into my car. I have removed the old stereo and I have received some very useful wiring harnesses from Crutchfield. I have a couple of questions regarding the wiring.

1. Can the stereo work without using the wiring harness that attaches to the amp? In other words...only use the front speakers.

2. On the harness that is to attach to the amp. I have wires for Right and left rear (+ & -)as well as for for Front Right and left (+ & -). I am confused a little with this because I also had an after market stereo installed in a '90 (which used different harnesses)and the one they used to bypass the amp only had Rear + and - wires. My question is the following. If I have the front + and - already wired with the harness for the head unit...do I also have to connect the "Amp Harness" Front + and - wires in order for the stereo to work.

(Please note I have not taken the time to check the Amp connector yet....not looking forward to it)

Anyway...any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Craig
