So who's going to the VCOA NATIONAL MEET in KANSAS CITY?????
I don't have a ***financial*** interest in the meet, though I sure do have a ***personal*** interest since I live in KC, am a member of the local VCOA chapter, and as the ODGuru will be doing a tech session on Laycock Overdrives. (so please sign up early :-) Oh yeah.....I drive a 245 too.
There are already quite a few 240s registered, which shouldn't be too surprising
to me since it was VOLVO's longenst production runs. Currently we have more than 20 states from coast to coast and border to border represented. But there's still time to sign up a bunch more. Let me fill you in on some of the events.....this is lots of bang for your buck.
Friday, please join us for a tour of the HARLEY DAVIDSON plant where they build the new V-Rod.......the coolest thing on wheels, next to a classic VOLVO. And don't miss the tour of LIBERTY Memorial, the only WWI memorial in the nation. That evening, we'll have the reception BARBEQUE sponsored by Superior VOLVO North, and will be passing out goody bags full of cool stuff.
On Saturday, we'll have the big CAR SHOW in historic Parkville, right on the banks of the Missouri River complete with Tech Sessions and give-a-ways all day long from various sponsors. There will be plenty of very cool cars, including "Jakob" (VOLVO owned) and a local one owner '73 1800ES with only 70 original miles. Yes, they're made to be driven......but how often do you get to see a 32 year old VOLVO that's SHOWROOM ORIGINAL!! Later, we'll have the awards ceremony/dinner with more give-a-ways, and a cocktail hour sponsored by Superior VOLVO North. There will be lots of evening activities, including a trivia game, guest speaker from our very own Kansas Speedway, a VOLVO history film, new film footage for the all new 70 series convertible, a guest speaker from VOLVO PR and more.
Sunday we'll be taking our classics on an old time POKER RUN through historic Missouri River towns on scenic and winding roads. You'll be traveling along the historic route of Lewis & Clark and getting a real flavor for this place we call home. If you haven't done a POKER RUN before, you're in for a real treat. What better way to see the countryside! And of course, there will be more prizes.
So please fill out the registration form and start shining up your classic. The VCOA NATIONAL MEET is right around the corner!
Questions about the meet? Please e-mail me any time! Thinking of bringing the whole family, but not sure what else there is to do in the area? Drop me a line! Any questions at all, just ask, but don't wait too long........the registration deadline is just a couple of weeks away.
Please see http://www.vcoa.org/events/2005-national_meet/ for more registration information.
