We bought a 1992 245 automatic with A/C 2 1/2 years ago. Last summer on ahot day, the car would not start.
A local mechanic told me to check the # 5 fuse and sure enough it had blown and after replacing it the
car started. This happened several times last summer, and either the car wouldn't start or the electric windows would not work.
This summer my wife twice noticed a sulfur smell in the car and those days were very hot (90s) with the AC on and the blower
on 2 or 3. We converted the AC over to the newest type freon last summer but I don't know if this could have anything to do with it.
The local mechanic told my wife it must be the #6 fuse that causes the no start problem, replaced all the fuses which were aluminum
strips with the copper type and assured her this would fix it but my wife noticed corrosion on some of the fuses a few hours after they
were changed. The electric window malfunction hasn't happened this summer, only the no start. My wife is ready to get rid of a good car.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem or how I can troubleshoot it? Thanks in advance.
