I'm tackling the headliner replacement job on my daughter's '89 744GL. I have the kit from IPD, its instructions, and other instructions from the 700-900 FAQ, including the ones from the DIY network. I have the headliner board removed, along with the steel section of the sunroof. I'm having trouble removing the headliner portion of the sunroof, since it needs to be recovered also. The instructions say to remove the flip-up 'air dam' from the front of the sunroof opening. I have done that, but there still seems to be too much 'stuff' in the way to get the headliner piece out. There are four 'tabs' or 'fingers' at the corners of the headliner that fit in the tracks, and they are holding it in place. It looks like I might have to remove the tracks and maybe more. Does anyone who has done this job have any advice for me? It would be greatly appreciated!
