mystery engine hose connection 200 1984

While servicing my son's 1984 240 DL B23F, I noticed a hose nipple without a hose nor any indication what it was supppose to be connected. The brass nipple sticks out of the engine on the right (passenger) side just below the exhuast flange & Oxy sensor, near the bell housing. It is ribbed indicating a self sealing hose connection. I put my finger over the hole and experiences no vacuum nor pressure. Anyone know what is suppose to be connected here? If necessary, I can email a photo. Thanks
