As some of you already know, my 1971 164 was saved from the shredder, bought from a hulk-hauler on the Port Of Tacoma waterfront. She looks good (when I don't wear my glasses).
Today, after fixing POD (problem of the day) in my 1988 Ford truck and getting it out of the way, I was able to pull the 164 out of the garage. It had a good half inch of dust on it, from sanding and repairing body issues. What to do with all of that dust? I fired the 164 up and went for a ride. I looked in the mirror as I accelerated away... Batman could not have managed a better smoke screen.
After a couple of miles, the dust was gone and I returned home. A little primer over the areas that I had worked on and now we're getting somewhere. She's supposed to be metallic blue, but someone thought Maaco silver was a better bet. I'm so glad they went cheap and did not paint inside the engine compartment, trunk or door jambs. My 164 shall be blue (to code) again.
My ex-wife thinks it will be gorgeous, once painted back to its original color... Maybe she wasn't so bad after all... Naaaahhhhh...
