3 sp. Auto tranny conversion 700

I would like to put a 4sp+ OD in this car. Did only the diesels use a clutch cable? I see only hydraulic clutches for the gas cars. What are my options for transmissions? Years and model numbers or tranny case numbers would be great. Also, I need a donor for a shift lever, etc. and am in St. Paul, MN. Strandbergs only has a 4 sp. w/o the overdrive ($300!) My other less desirable option is an auto tranny w/overdrive that I already have in posession. I am very skilled so am not worried about the complexity of the job.
