89 b230f knocking sound during idle 200

Hi everyone
My 89 240 b230f has a rhythmic knocking sound coming from the engine during idling.It almost sounds like someone hitting a hollow tree stump-a deep sound, not very loud.It doesn't go away as the engine warms up.To me it doesn't sound like valve gear-had a b234f 740 with noisy valves, and this was a metallic higher pitched sound.The car drives really well otherwise and the noise isn't noticeable when driving.it has 211000kms-about 132000 miles(I'm in Australia).Could be piston slap?Should i worry if it is?
