I have been nursing a tiny drip on my 1990 240 for a couple years, its now at a point where its too anoying and looses about a quart in two months. I power washed the engine and after driving it a weekend, I see oil around the left side of the crank/transmission interface. So I was going to have the rear seal replaced. There are lots of post about this, it sounds like a 5-6 hour labor job, about $3 to $400 @60/hr?
What else should i have done when this work is done?
Transmission pan/screen servie?
Oil Pan? looks good, no sign of leaks.
Oil breather replacement or cleaning ( I blew through the flame trap hose, no real obstructions when I blow.)
Was also going to have the timing belt done, its about time for it. So front seals too.
The cars a 90/240 with 240,000 miles. No sign of rust, and I'ld like to keep it for the foreseeable future.
