Fuse 16 blows, blower motor replacement, PLEASE HELP!!!??!?!?! 700 1989

1989 745 TiC. 253000.

Blower motor stopped working.

Bought new one.
Before I put it in, I checked to see if it worked, attached one pin. And touched ground wire to metal housing. Turned Car on and it worked great.
Put the Motor in the car, and turned the car back on and nothing!!!

Pulled it out and the blower motor now does not work..

Checked fuse, and it is blown???? Why??? Please help...
