Transmission and engine removal driveshaft not getting out of way 87 745FT 700

I have the removed the 3 trans front flange and 3 DS bolts out but can't get it out of the way. There is a 1/2" rod inside I don't see in the pix. I have used a bar to push it apart but it doesn't go back far enough. I don't have shifter access unless I can get it out of the way. Also has someone removed engine and transmission together, what is the preferred method? Thanks
