Front Brake Caliper Installation 700 1988

I am having trouble reconnecting one of the two brake flex hoses on both front calipers after installing new calipers on my 88 740 GLE (Bendix w/o ABS). I can get one on just fine by rotating the caliper, thus connecting the hose with no binding. The second line however, is giving me fits. I must be missing something. Do I "pre-wind" the hose several turns with the hope of getting is tight at the same time the hose becomes unbound? Is there a kit or trick for this?
