Mystery hose 200 1983

After all these years, still surprises. This weekend I was under the back end of our wagon checking on the pre-pump. Found a small (5/32?) hose which exits the bulkhead by the rear axle on the driver's side. It has a tiny piece of broken plastic fitting in it's end, and it's not from the check valve on the bulkhead, which is intact and has it's lines attached. This one actually exits from inside the bulkhead. Anybody know what that is?
