Hello all! New guy here, I picked up an '86 245 a couple weeks ago for $450 and have been doing some tinkering on it.
I made my first Volvo newb mistake last week and am needing some help cleaning it up! I didn't realize that volvos took ATF in the power steering system and topped the reservior off with brake fluid, doh! Shortly after, all the fluid shot out of the vent in the reservior cap when I parked the car after driving for about 20 minutes and the power steering stopped working. I tried flushing the system and refilling it, but everytime I go somewhere the same thing happens and I end up soaking the engine bay with ATF and leaving a nice puddle in the parking spot. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm hoping I didn't destroy the pump or rack!
Also, the blower for the heat/ac comes on even when the knob is set to off and the a/c compressor kicks on regardless of the position of the a/c knob. Any insight into this?
Thanks in advance, I'm excited about the car, just need to get the bugs worked out so I can enjoy it!
