I'm needing a mechanic/shop experienced with classic Volvos, particularly SU carbs in the York/Harrisburg PA area, and pronto. My 1966 122 is slightly south of York, Pennsylvania at my trusted mechanic's shop, but he's never worked on SUs, much less rebuilt them, and they seem to be the source of the problem right now (the #3 cylinder is misfiring, too much fuel getting in, idling rough, and excess fuel heating up the exhaust--not an electrical problem, spark plugs are good, compression's good, and valves are properly adjusted). There's an experienced Volvo place in Easton, PA called Yankee Trading Co., closer to my home location, but that's about 3 hrs from where my car is, and it'd be a lot easier to deal w/all in the same locale. If I need to get a complete rebuild, complete w/new seals on the throttle shafts, etc., this may be the time for me to do it.
I'd like to find someone by Thurs or Friday, as I'll be out there and have a time crunch I'm working under. I've emailed Jan Nystrom, VCOA mag editor, who happens to live in York, PA, but in case he may not get back to me right away, I thought I'd turn to the brickboard and see if anyone who might know someone might happen to be reading. A good recommendation would be valuable.
Thanks!
Holly
