Does anyone have experience with the replacement (Scan-Tech) style heater control valves?

My OE valve leaks, and does not close fully, so I would very much like to fix this before winter. I have a source for the OE valve, but I prefer to have full-manual control and eliminate the temp compensation part.

If I cannot find a true "drop in" replacement, I will fabricate something with parts out of my Climatech book.
