Ok, I need help with a friend's 240. His daughter was driving the car, brought it into the driveway and, bang, no start. A clicking sound on the solenoid led us to replace the starter. Still no starting. The odd thing was the shifter was jammed in park. I took of the cover and found the little plastic 'pickle fork' guide that was not putting pressure on the rod to allow it to shift out of park. Rigged it so that would happen so he could tow it ( I was going out of town). He towed it to a local mechanic, who replaced the neutral safety switch. The starter runs but now there is no spark. Mechanic checked crank sensor and then replaced the amplifier. Still no start. Mechanic wants to replace the Ignition module (only wants to buy it from Volvo @ $1400!!!) so I told him to tow it home and I could get an ignition module from FCP Groton. Anything else it could be? From what I have seen, the Ignition module rarely goes bad, is the mechanic (or me) overlooking anything?
