Oil Change - more than 4 Quarts ??? 200

For as long as I can remember, 4 quarts of oil was the max that the
240 would take, very often a 1/4 Quart less. My last two oil changes
appear to need more than 4. One was my son's 1993 last week, and today my own
1989 only shows halfway on the dipstick after a full 4 quarts.

Does this make sense???
