IACV just cleaned - now starts then stalls 700 1991

Under the heading of leaving well enough alone.... My 740 (non-turbo) has been hunting at idle when warm (750 RPM up to 2000 RPM then back and repeat). Following excellent advice/notes from this site, I cleaned the IACV, throttle body, flame trap, fittings, and related hoses. There was quite a bit of gunk throughout. Now with everything clean and back together, it starts fine, idles at about 1000 RPM for 10-20 seconds, then begins to ramp up, gets to about 1500 RPM, then drops out and stalls. Restarts fine, but repeats the same sequence to stall. I re-check connections and all looks right and tight. The throttle switch appears to be doing it's thing (clicks as soon as the throttle lifts), so I haven't adjusted. I disconnected the air inlet hose to the IACV in place and initially air is being drawn in and then, just before the stall, feels like the IACV is closing off all the way. Is there some 'post-cleaning' adjustment I've missed? Or have I managed to clean it to death and it's time to buy a new IACV? How much do they cost? Thanks!
