OK I posted this a week or so ago. Dash Waring Lights were comming on intermittently, sometimes at startup sometimes when driving but usually when revs were low. Increase in pedal (gas) would shut 'em off. It was suggested that there was corrosion in the fusebox, so I cleaned all the terminals and spade connections. No Joy.
So I decided to swap the brushpack on the alternator and see if that did the trick. When I removed the existing unit, the brushes came out in my hand along with the springs. The braided wires connecting the brush unit to the brusholder were toast. The ceramic brusholder sleeves were solid black carbon from the arcing. Once the new unit was in, no sign of the warning lights at any RPM
level. The brushes must have been moving when the rpm's drop and since the wiring was toast, they would arc and the power output would drop and lites come
on.
I'll try and post the pics in the tech library.
