92 240 stuck in park 200 1992

My son called from school that his 92 Volvo 240 was stuck in park. It has been a good car - 129,000 miles. I tried to get it to shift - no luck. I had to leave the car at school. He had driven several places today without any problems. I figure it is some type of broken switch, but any solutions to do in a parking lot that I can get it moving and take to a shop??
