It has been my experience that removing the float covers is no big deal, the paper gasket is very durable. You could probably remove the covers 30 or 40 times without a problem. As far as the other gaskets are concerned I believe George recommends using heavy duty file paper. Haven't tried it myself but it sounds like it should work just fine.
