There were, some '73 onward. Steering column is different from the older ones, so conversion isn't completely straightforward if you've got an older car. I think it's also a ZF box. Still, it's a fairly rare box, and the associated pump is huge (and not very efficient). Being able to convert to a rack would mean much easier parts supply.
