If you have a wire going from your distributor to the solenoid, you have some seriously creative, nonstock wiring in your car! The solenoid on a 122 has precicely three wires:

1. Heavy wire from Bat.
2. Green (unless atomatic trans, in which case, Red) wire from IGN sw. and
3. Heavy (typically uninsulated) wire going into starter.

Please elaborate and enlighten us!
