In our 89 244, for three days in a row when my wife went to leave work to come home, the brick wouldn't start. For the first two times, I drove over, put in the key, and it started right up... no problem! The third time, I couldn't get the brick to start and finally realized that I didn't hear the fuel pump although I heard the relay. Then I bypassed the Fuel pump relay and the car fired right up. The next day I replaced the FPR and the problem went away right up to the violent death the car suffered (aka. crash).
The crank position sensor is on the front top of the bell housing just behind the cylinder head next to the firewall. Inspect the harness coming from it, if it is cracked, especially if you see copper, replace the sensor.
Good Luck!

ps. If you have a 93 with manual trans, there is a good chance you have an LH3.1 system rather than an LH2.4, if this is the case, there is no 25A fuse on the inner fender well!
